Loosing Sleep



why is it that you cant get enough sleep at night? Everybody secretly knows that its partially because of you using your phone right before sleeping. Now this may not be the case with everyone but it mostly is.

Smartphones emit a blue sort of light. This blue light is used by phone companies to make the screens on phones more efficient. However these can also cause loss of sleep during the night. The blue light affects a hormone in our body called "melatonin" ,which essentially reminds our body to sleep and rest, causing it to not effectively do its job.

Apple introduced a feature in is ios 9.3 beta release allowing the screen to display a yellow hue or tint which is different from the blue light that the screen usually emits. With this there is no disruption to the, as i like to call it, "The Sleep Hormone" which allows us to sleep and rest with ease.This feature is automatically turned on when its night time. Apple described that the software uses the phones clock and geolocation to determine when its dark outside and thus turns it on. Note that it can also be turned off manually if you dont want this feature by going into settings.
