Samsung Note 7 units that have not been returned, to be remotely deactivated.

Samsung seems to be very keen on doing everything in its power to stop another galaxy Note 7 explosion. Whether it be through their exchange program or now Deactivating unreturned units of the Note 7.

A redditor who goes by the name LimboJr stated that Samsung will be deactivating unreturned galaxy note 7 units remotely after September 30th. He also said that the replacement units will be arriving starting from the 19th of September with a Gear Vr and a pre paid parcel to send the defective model back without any charges.

This date is true for most European countries but sadly for Samsung Note 7 users in the U.S , they would have to wait a bit more for their new units. However amidst all this drama, it seems that Samsung is finding it difficult convincing its customers to participate in the global exchange program as it outed a press release this past weekend , urging users to "immediately participate" in the program.

"Our number one priority is the safety of our customers. We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them as soon as possible," The press release quoted DJ koh as saying."We are expediting replacement devices so that they can be provided through the exchange program as conveniently as possible and in compliance with related regulations. We sincerely thank our customers for their understanding and patience."

The note 7 fiasco has had a major impact on the tech giant. The recall will cost Samsung roughly around $1 billion according to analysts and the recent FAA's advice to users of the note 7 to turn their devices off has shaved off about $10 billion from Samsung's market value.
